AFCW 2 Shepshed Dynamo 1

AFC Wulfrunians came from behind to pick up all three points against Shepshed Dynamo, and put an end to a run of recent poor results.

The game started slowly with Wulfs’ best effort a long range strike from Jake Webb that keeper Denham Hinds managed to deal with at the second attempt.

After taking control of the game it was the visitors who went ahead in the 11th minute, in slightly fortuitous circumstances, when Shay Brennan’s left wing cross too a big deflection and looped over keeper John Bateman and dropped in at the far post.

Shepshed were well on top for the rest of the first half and went close to extending their lead when Brennan hit a snapshot that went just wide of the post.

There was a chance at either end early in the second half. First Callum Parker thought he was in with a chance when Hinds slipped over but the keeper recovered well and sent a long ball downfield which put Alex Troke in the clear but his low drive was well saved by Bateman.

The game changed as Wulfs equalised in the 61st minute. Craig Gregg delivered a low ball in from the left which Parker attacked only for Joe Pheasant to slice into his own net while attempting to clear.

It got better still for Wulfs as they went ahead eight minutes later. Joe Daley headed a ball forward from midfield and Parker produced a neat turn before coolly slotting past the keeper.

Webb went close to extending the lead with a low drive that was tipped past the post by Hinds and the same player went close again late on with an angled drive that the keeper saved with his feet but Wulfs held on for the victory.

FINAL SCORE: AFC Wulfrunians 2 Shepshed Dynamo 1.
