Battling Response

After a disappointing opening day drubbing to one of the league new boys Aylestone, AFC were looking to bounce back quickly travelling to Cradley Town on match day two. A tight pitch saw a change in tactics for AFC as they pressed hard from there front line and eleven minutes in broke the deadlock, a smart move down the right was eventually switched to the back post where Jay Sutherland netted his first of the season. Cradley often little in the way of response in attack but they were up for the scrap as the intensity of the battle increased. AFC’s continued high pressure continued to pay off as Lucas Buckley netted two more before the break with Jay Sutherland and Nitai-Guara Dasa both involved in the goals.

Half Time 0-3

The second half saw more of the same, high pressure closing down on the small pitch reduced the football on show. Some sloppy AFC defending gave Cradley a lifeline at 1-3 but Jacob Harper brought AFC back to life late into the second half with a fine solo run and left foot finish to put the game beyond Cradley. A superb strike from Dan Lowe in the closing minutes made it 1-5 and a hard fought three points for AFC on the road.

Full Time 1-5
