After an encouraging away win at Oadby in the last match a better result was expected in this home game to Shrewsbury Town. However, this did not materialise as for the second time this season Wulfrunians were mugged by two goals from breakaways. Suffering the same score line as the away game the 2-1 loss was equally hard to take. Wulfrunians dominated much of the match and
deserved far more than the bare result.
Shrewsbury had scored first as Wulfrunians started slowly but from the middle of the first half there was only one team who looked the likely winner. The first half finished one all as a well taken Joshua Cooke penalty was the only reward after Dan Lowe had been fowled in the box. Most of the second half was spent in Shrewsbury’s goal area but a sucker punch was dealt with ten minutes to go and Wulfrunians were unable to reply after that.
