Highgate United 2 AFCW 0

AFC Wulfrunians went down 2-0 away at Highgate United as a poor second half performance, and goals from Marco Adaggio and Lei Brown, consigned them to defeat.

There was no sign of what was to come in the first half as Wulfs looked bright with Demetri Brown striking a low shot that was well claimed by the keeper and Jamie King twice going close with free kicks from the edge of the area.

Highgate went close when Adaggio collected an Isaac Jagroop nod down before scooping a shot over the bar.

The best chance of the half fell to Wulfs shortly before the interval when Joel Caines hit a low deflected shot that struck the outside of the post.

The second half was a totally different affair as the home side took control of the game with Jagroop forcing a good save from Liam Stanton after Adaggio had blocked his attempted clearance.

Jagroop and Adaggio then went close before Highgate broke the deadlock in the 57th minute when Jagroop slid a good ball through to Adaggio and he neatly dinked the ball over the advancing keeper and into the net.

The lead was doubled eight minutes later when Josh Hawker’s initial shot was blocked but substitute Brown was on hand to fire home the rebound.

Wulfs tried hard to get back into the game but never really threatened a goal as Highgate cruised through to the full time whistle.

AFC Wulfrunians line up: Stanton, Webb, Caines, Sedgemore, Ray, McFarlane, Gregg (Rose-Laing 79), Ellis, Thomas (Nesbitt 61), King, Brown (Minto 34).
