AFC Wulfrunians first game of the New Year was provided with a trip to Kinver to face AFC Hinksford. With games everywhere being called off after weeks of poor weather this fixture seemed to being no exception but after many efforts from “Wulfs ground staff” the game was switched to Danescourt Road and went ahead.
The game got under way and it was Wulfs who started the better of the two sides. Wulfs used the ball well dominating possession and attacking with intent. Hinksford were no pushover though and were tough in the tackle and posed a threat on the break. Wulfs took a deserved lead on sixteen minutes when Owen Wright-Tennant got on the end of a Ben Moore cross 0-1. Five minutes later Wulfs doubled their lead, Jordan Crump feed a ball from the back for forward Dan Lowe who fired home in spectacular fashion 0-2. Wulfs could have had more but were happy to take the first half performance and score line to the break. Half Time 0-2.
The second half was a different storey, Hinksford upped their game and ten minutes into the second half deservedly pulled a goal back 1-2. Despite some good defending at the back Wulfs were not getting to grips with the second half, Hinksford wanted to win the battle so much more than the Wulfs lads and with ten minutes to go grabbed their equalizer 2-2. There could have been winning goals at either end but at full time a share of the spoils was probably a fair result.
