AFC Wulfrunians returned to action after the half term break with a trip to Leicester to face an Oadby Owls side that have only tasted defeat once this season.

Wulfs started bright and drew first blood when Joe Thorneycrofts shot took a deflection into the air and Jacob Harper nodded home from close range for his fourth goal in six league games, a run any striker would be happy with never mind a centre half. That was the end of anything positive for Wulfs in the first half as Oadby started to pull the strings. Oadby wasted a number of chances as the Wulfs defence was pulled apart and so when Oadby equalized is was deservedly so. Oadby were rampant and there high pressure attacking caused individual errors from Simon Cornaby and Marcus Dias leading to two further goals and a 3-1 half time scoreline.

Wulfs have shown that they are more than capable of pulling out victories coming from behind but you wondered at the break whether this time given the muddy pitch and the first half displays of both sides that they had given themselves just too much to do. Despite the odds a second half Wulfs display of grit and determination again showed how much character and team spirit these boys have and an amazing turn around began. Harper played an excellent through ball to Jordan Crump who leathered the ball home with conviction to make the scoreline 3-2. Then a superb display of passion and football saw assists from Cooke and Shahar setup Crump for the equalizer, winner and his hatrick that completed another jaw dropping comeback! Oadby didn’t give in and tried to claw there was back into the game but a fantastic late James Hale save made sure Wulfs remained unbeaten! Final Score 3-4.
