AFCW 8 Hawkins Sports 0 (JW Hunt Cup)

AFC Wulfrunians progressed to the next round of the JW Hunt Cup as they recorded a huge win over Hawkins Sports. It was a night to remember for Jamie King, as he struck four goals on the way to Wulfs’ 8-0 victory.

It took just 12 minutes for Wulfs to take the lead; Kyle Brady threaded through a pass for King, who made no mistake as he calmly slotted past the ‘keeper.

Two goals in four minutes saw the game taken away from the visitors inside of 20 minutes. Brady was again the provider as he scooped a ball for Kyle Minto behind the defence, who beat a defender before firing into the roof of the net.

King added his second shortly after- a corner was poorly cleared and John Hill collected the ball on the edge of the area, he played it short to King who drove past defender before smashing his effort into the corner.

The hosts added two more before the break; Brady got a goal of his own as he latched onto Harrison Barrett’s flick for a simple finish. He then added his third assist of the night as he again threaded through King, who rounded the ‘keeper to complete his hat trick.

Wulfs added a sixth after 65 minutes, as substitute Jake Webb added his second goal in as many games. Mark Ganderton played him in behind the defence after an impressive run and the winger powerfully struck the ball past the ‘keeper with a first time effort.

Brady added his second when Webb’s cross was met by Matt Hunt, who headed it across goal to Brady for a simple header into the bottom corner.

Within a minute, King grabbed another to secure an emphatic win for Wulfrunians. Barrett played the ball to him on the edge of the box and his impressive touch took it past the defender before he fired a powerful effort past the ‘keeper.

AFC Wulfrunians line up: Sargeant, Ganderton, Bridgen, Rose-Laing (Webb 64), Hill (Waterhouse 45), Hunt, Barrett, Palmer (Aulak 58), Minto, King, Brady.
