A misty morning in the Northamptonshire countryside set the scene for Brackley Town v AFC Wulfrunians. Both teams were looking for a positive start with Brackley going down 10-0 in their first game against Austrey and Wulfrunians having their first game cancelled against Kewford.

Wulfrunians started the brighter and took an early lead when new boy Joe Thorneycroft headed home from close range from an Eashan Brackenbridge cross. It didn’t take long before another new boy Sol Sahar doubled Wulfrunians lead with an excellent strike into the bottom right hand corner. Credit to Brackleys as they continued to play out from the back but there main threat came from the ball over the top as Wulfrunians played a high line. The direct play created Brackley three separate chances during the first period but they all went begging. Wulfrunians were too strong closing Brackley down quickly and showed no mercy in front of goal with Jordan Crump netting a hatrick before half time, Josh Cooke scoring twice and Ben Moore and Jacob Harper making the score 0-9 at the half time interval.

Manager Ian Moore made numerous changes throughout the game as Wulfrunians dominated the second period, Ben Moore and Josh Cooke added another two goals a piece while a brace from Simon Cornaby and singles from Eashan Brackenbridge and Lawson Taylor completed a 0-17 score line.
