Stourport Swifts 2 AFCW 0

AFC Wulfrunians’ final away game of the season ended in defeat, as they fell 2-0 to Stourport Swifts. In a game that never really got going, goals either side of half-time were enough to give the hosts the three points.

The first chance of the game fell to Wulfs after just six minutes. Demetri Brown flicked on Danny Tipton’s goal kick; Jamie King latched onto it but saw his lobbed effort land on the roof of the net.

Swifts took the lead shortly before the half-hour mark. A poorly cleared corner fell to Gary Walker, he lofted the ball back into the area and Jamie Willets was on hand to flick a header over Tipton.

Their lead was doubled shortly after the break. Ashley Parsons Smith delivered a cross from deep on the right and James Baldwin calmly placed it past the ‘keeper at the back post.

Wulfs almost pulled a goal back with seven minutes remaining. Mitch McDonald slipped Brown behind the defence but the striker’s effort was well saved by Brendon Bunn.

Wulfrunians will now look to end the season with a victory, as they host mid-table Alvechurch in their final game on Saturday.

AFC Wulfrunians line up: Tipton, Perks (Marsh 55), Jones, Sedgemore, Hill, Talbot, McDonald, Rose-Laing, Bood, D Brown (Thompson 82), King.
