Coleshill Town 1 AFCW 5

A rampant performance from AFC Wulfrunians saw them power to victory against Coleshill Town. Craig Gregg grabbed a brace and there were also goals for Jacob Craner, Mike Robertson and Jake Sedgemore. Connor Leek provided the consolation goal for the hosts.

Wulfs were quick out of the blocks and had some excellent early chances. Gregg and Craner linked up well; with the latter having his shot saved by Paul Hathaway and Scott Stevenson’s chipped effort from the rebound grazed the outside of the post.

The early pressure led to Wulfs taking the lead after nine minutes. Craig Gregg was bundled over in the area, allowing Sedgemore to calmly send Hathaway the wrong way from the spot.

As the game settled, Coleshill had a pair of chances to level the score. Ryan Nash saw his curling free kick held by Danny Tipton, with Danny Tymon poking wide from the edge of the area two minutes later.

The hosts were made to pay for not taking their chances as Craner doubled his sides lead after 30 minutes. There was some fantastic build up play before a quick one-two between Gregg and Craner, with Craner dribbling across goal and wrong footing the ‘keeper with a neat finish.

Robertson added a third for Wulfs one minute before the break. Gregg’s cross was deflected to him and he controlled it before firing it into the corner.

Coleshill responded better in the second half and pulled a goal back after 51 minutes. Matt Brown broke clear of the defence, but Tipton did well to push his shot away, only for Leek to pounce on the rebound and place it in.

A Tipton assist led to Gregg adding his first of the game. He chased down the ‘keeper’s long kick and left Hathaway with no chance.

Gregg added his second to complete the rout for Wulfs with six minutes to go. He showed great control to bring the ball down before brushing off a defender as he turned to fire it into the corner.

Wulfrunians now move onto their final home game of the season against Gornal Athletic on Monday and will look to continue a good run that has seen them lose only one of their last ten games.

AFC Wulfrunians line up: Tipton, Sedgemore, Perks (Davies 84), Palmer, Hurren, Skedgel, Craner (Bright 76), Rose-Laing (Lawley 72), Gregg, Stevenson, Robertson.
