Tipton Town 0 AFCW 0

The points were shared between AFC Wulfrunians and Tipton Town as the sides fought out a goalless draw in an extremely tight contest. The game was short of chances and this was, in part, down to the organised nature in which both teams defended.

Scott Stevenson had the first effort of the game; his floating cross-come-shot was tipped over the bar by James Pemberton. From the resulting corner, Rich Golding was in an excellent position as the ball bounced down from a Craig Gregg header but his volley was well over.

Danny Ashton’s free kick provided an excellent chance for Tipton as it flew across goal but it managed to evade everybody and roll out for a goal kick.

After 40 minutes, the hosts had their best chance of the half, Marvin Nisbett collected the ball on the edge of the area and drove forward with pace but his shot was dragged wide.

James Skedgel had the chance to give Wulfs the lead 10 minutes into the second half but his header at the near post was blocked on the line by a defender.

Some superb football from Wulfs provided Gregg with the opportunity to score after 60 minutes. Jordan Perks beat two players before threading through a pass to Gregg but his shot was tipped wide by Pemberton.

It was Perks who had the best chance of the game just three minutes later. David Howells pulled two players out of position on the left before beating them and crossing to the unmarked Perks, but his floating header struck the bar and fell away.

Wulfrunians can take many positives from the game as they collected their first clean sheet in the league since November and held a team who are unbeaten at home since November.

AFC Wulfrunians line up: Tipton, Sedgemore, Burd, Palmer, Skedgel, Golding, Perks (Webb 75), Hurren (Lawley 75), Gregg (Thompson 79), Stevenson, Howells
