AFCW 3 Shepshed Dynamo 0

AFC Wulfrunians ended their poor run of results with a comprehensive victory over Shepshed Dynamo. The hosts’ goals came from Craig Gregg, Jordan Perks and Scott Stevenson, with Dynamo offering very little of their own in the attacking department.

Wulfrunians took the initiative early on and took the lead after just 14 minutes; Stevenson beat one player before seeing his drilled effort sent looping into the air by ‘keeper Ryan Thacker, Gregg was then in an ideal position to smash the ball in from close range.

Within two minutes, Shepshed could have been level- Rob Mulonga’s cross was met by Keiron Bradshaw, only for Danny Tipton to excellently tip it over the bar.

Mulonga was again involved after 25 minutes when he almost equalised for Dynamo from the edge of the area. A mazy run left him in plenty of space but his driven effort fell just wide of the post.

Wulfs doubled their lead after 29 minutes, Stevenson played a fantastic ball through for Jake Webb on the left, and his pinpoint cross was fired in first time from the edge of the six-yard box by Perks.

Michael Paparozzi could have pulled one back for the visitors just before half-time, his glancing header from Craig Attwood’s cross was narrowly wide.

Perks had the chance to add his second and diminish any hopes of a Shepshed comeback after 39 minutes, Gregg held off two defenders before excellently laying off to Perks, however his effort was easily held by the ‘keeper.

Gregg should have extended Wulfs’ lead early in the second half, Webb showed excellent skill to get into a position to deliver a cross, but Gregg’s eventual effort from close range was tremendously saved by Thacker’s feet.

Wulfrunians’ victory was rounded off after 73 minutes, with Stevenson providing the final goal. He went through on goal after a great pass by Perks and showed great composure to curl the ball past the advancing Thacker and into the corner.

Webb had the chance to add another late-on, he smashed substitute Ash Burd’s chipped ball straight off the post- with it eventually being collected by the ‘keeper.

AFC Wulfrunians line up: Tipton, Sedgemore, Griffin (Skedgel 77), Palmer (Burd 18), Golding, Asbury, Perks (Wilkinson 88), Lawley, Gregg, Stevenson, Webb.
