A 90th minute strike from Ricky Anslow earned Wulfs a vital three points from their trip to Shifnal Town, a win that moved them up to 3rd place in the table.
It was Wulfs who opened up the stronger with Nathan Rose-Laing, Anslow and Danny Crudgington all firing efforts wide of the target.
Shifnal slowly worked their way into the game and would have taken a 15th minute lead but for an excellent triple save from Marc Evans. First he kept out Gareth Horler’s close range header and then twice foiled Liam Bood’s follow up efforts.
Top scorer Chris Henry went close for the home side shortly after when he showed good feet in the area to turn and fire a shot that struck to top of the crossbar.
The game then sprung to life in the final minute leading up to the interval. In the 45th minute, Ashley Burd’s deep cross from the left was headed goalwards by Mick Eagles and a deflection off a defender took the ball past the keeper to give Wulfs the lead.
Then, in first half injury time, Shifnal levelled matters when Mike Sheridon emphatically headed home Glynn Colney’s right wing free kick at the near post.
Shifnal had a good chance to take the lead soon after the restart when Henry got in behind the defence and lobbed the keeper from a narrow angle but his effort went just wide of the far post.
Crudgington then sent a curling shot just wide for Wulfs before the home side were desperately unlucky again as Colney’s 20 yard shot cannoned back off the inside of the far post before it was cleared.
As the game wore on Wulfs got stronger and keeper Dave Maguire did well to foil Anslow with an outstretched foot.
Heavy Wulfs pressure in the last 10 minutes saw Crudgington go close when his shot deflected just past the post before they grabbed a crucial winner with 90 minutes on the clock. Substitute Chris Rabone’s long ball forward was flicked on to Rose-Laing who released Anslow to run through and slot past the advancing keeper and earn Wulfs all three points.
