Skipper Jake Sedgemore netted a 91st minute winner to earn Wulfs all three points from a hard fought 2-1 victory away at Dudley Sports.
A bone hard pitch made it very difficult for either team to get any flowing football going and it took until the 19th minute for the game to register its first effort at goal when Dudley striker Matt Hearsey cut in from the left and struck a fierce shot across goal but wide of the target.
Wulfs’ first effort at goal saw Nathan Rose-Laing volley straight at keeper Sam Pearson after Andy Mitchell had contested a long throw.
Hearsey then tried his luck from distance again for Sports but was off target again before his strike partner Craig Tibbetts headed a right wing corner just past the post.
Despite enjoying plenty of possession, Wulfs were struggling to create any chances and were grateful for a slice of good fortune to take the lead three minutes before the interval. Danny Crudgington skipped between two defenders in the inside right channel before cutting a ball back which keeper Pearson could only push against defender Adam Fincher and the ball rolled agonisingly over the line for an own goal.
Crudgington had a great opportunity to extend the lead three minutes in to the second half when he pickied the ball up from a throw and glidied past a defender before firing wide of the far post.
Sports slowly began to build some pressure and had a great chance to equalise when Craig Stevens’ shot deflected off Tibbetts into the path of Ben Hughes but he fired wide with just the keeper to beat.
Tibbetts then glanced another corner just wide before Sports grabbed a deserved 70th minute equaliser. A free kick from the right caused panic in the Wulfs goalmouth and Matt Preston prodded home via the underside of the crossbar.
The home side now looked the more likely to snatch a winner and Wulfs keeper Raajan Gill had to be alert to collect Josh Taylor’s curling shot but was helpless when substitute Guiseppe Maffei lifted the ball over his head but on to the roof of the net.
With the game going in to injury time and a draw looking likely, Jake Sedgemore grabbed a crucial winner for Wulfs by curling home a free kick after substitute Ricky Anslow had been fetched down on the edge of the area.
