Bright finish from U18’s

First and foremost, this was a high quality game between two very good sides who mixed good football with intelligent running whilst keeping an excellent shape throughout.

A cagey opening half hour saw Wulfs go close when keeper Gareth Price got down well to save Benji Gutteridge’s downward header while at the other end, Joshua Gordon fired just over from 30 yards.

The breakthrough came in the 32nd minute and it fell to the visitors when poor control in midfield was pounced upon and Louis Seymour was put clear to slot past the advancing keeper.

Both sides continued to defend well and all Wulfs had to show in the final 15 minutes of the first half was a Harvey Pearson header which Gareth Price collected well under his crossbar.

It needed something special to turn the game and it came in the 56th minute when Jake Webb picked up a clearance out of the area and drove forward before curling a delightful shot into the top corner from 25 yards.

Wulfs midfielder Liam Wilkinson then saw his first time shot tipped over and Castle defender Josh Brown headed just over from a corner as both teams went in search of a winner.

The deciding goal came 10 minutes from time and it was the home side who claimed all three points. Ben Webb and Liam Wilkinson linked up well to release Jake Webb down the right and he skipped past his man before sending in a cross which Ryan Bright headed in to the far corner of the net.
