Wulfs returned to winning ways after the disappointment of Saturday’s defeat at Gornal with victory over visitingCradleyTown.
The hosts meant business right from the first whistle and could have forged ahead as early as the fourth minute after a neat one-two between Nathan Rose-Laing and Ricky Anslow saw the former’s snap shot turned onto the post by Town’s Matthew Jones.
Wulfs continued to dominate play and new signing Chris Rabone fed Anslow only to see his effort cleared off the goal line. The breakthrough finally came after 13 minutes. An in-swinging corner from Simeon Ritchie found the back of the net after Jones had fumbled the ball over the line.
Anslow’s pace continued to cause havoc in the visitors back line and after linking up well with Rabone, a goal mouth scramble resulted in Cradley finally clearing their lines.
Rose Laing was next to try his luck, but again his low shot found Jones equal to the cause.
Cradley’s first real attack came just past the half hour. Pheon Jolly cross from the left found Matthew Bailey but his half hit shot was bread and butter for Marc Evans.
Evans could do nothing about the equalising goal though – Nathaniel Waite carrying the ball past two Wulfs players before firing in from 22 yards out.
Two minutes later the hosts regained the lead. Micky Eagles fed Ritchie who floated in a perfect cross for Rose-Laing to head in at the far post.
Bailey carved out a good opportunity for Town on the stroke of half time but found Tony Collins in the right place to block on the goal line.
Ade Bandele was introduced early in the second half to provide more attacking options and this paid off when Wulfs increased their lead after 62 minutes.
Neat play between Rose-Laing and Ritchie carved out the opportunity for Anslow to complete a cool finish from just inside the area.
Both Danny Crudgington and Ian Boswell came on for Ritchie and Eagles respectively as Wulfs went in search of a fourth goal.
First Anslow headed wide, then with two minutes remaining Bandele found his shot cleared off the line by Luke Darby.
